ALICIA LO

Raised in Adelaide, SA
Lives & works in Melbourne, VIC

Alicia Lo has been photographing since 2020 and enjoys capturing candid street photography of people and cityscapes. She often employs digital manipulation to create collages and other works based on the concept of fractured imagery. Many projects have an underlying narrative regarding

different perspectives of youth and growing up. This allows viewers to borrow memories through photography counteracting the current times that serve to isolate and prevent people from such carefree physical connections. She takes a surrealist approach to street photography to highlight the various emotions many adolescents face during post-lockdown.

Alicia grew up in a small town in South Australia before relocating to the much larger city of Melbourne after high school. During that time, she encountered the many complexities of growing up between the ages of being considered an adult whilst psychologically remaining in adolescence. Her work draws inspiration from these stories to investigate the relationship between youth, social connections, and the digital landscape during the post-lockdown era. Alicia uses photography to share her reflections on youth and culture through different photographic aesthetics, and story projects.
